Sade or Rankkasade is the titular protagonist of R&M. The story partially follows his struggles of leading the country, as well as his slow descend into madness.
Name: Rankkasade means heavy rain, but most characters use the nickname Sade, which is just rain.

About: Rankkasade is a young, tall man with wavy reddish-brown hair and dark brown eyes. He has tanned skin with a lot of freckles and moles, which tend to increase during summer. Formally known as Prince Rankkasade of The East Dell, was born on 1 April 19XX in Kultaniitty to Princess Helle and Duke Sadehelmi, during the reign of his maternal grandfather King Ikijää II. Being second to the throne had it's own impacts on his upbringing, but aside that Rankkasade's youth was filled with rebellion, recklessness and mischief. When Sade was 19, his mother, the heir apparent, died in childbirth along with her third child. Thus he was officially crowned the King of Itänotko at 22 years old. Later on in the story Rankkasade is diagnosed with lung cancer.

Sade and Myrsky are siblings. They were a lot closer as children, but ever since Myrsky left Itänotko they haven't talked. Sade thinks that he didn't protect his younger sibling well enough.
