Supdt. of Agriculture Damcherra was established by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Tripura in March, 2016 at Damcherra Sub-Zonal office complex , about 32 km. away from district headquarter Dharmanagar. The office was established for achieving aims towards enhancing productivity and production of agricultural commodities to ensure food security of the Damcherra area including its 13 GP/VC under Damcherra Block and also to make agriculture a sustainable and viable vocation.
Functions: Formulation and implementation of policies and programmes aimed at achieving rapid agricultural growth through optimum utilization of land, water, soil and plant resources of the Damcherra. Implementation of beneficiary oriented schemes for economics upliftment of farming community. Undertaking all possible measures to ensure timely and adequate supply of quality inputs and services such as fertilizers, seeds, pesticides, agricultural implements, etc. Creating assured irrigation facilities to the farmers through minor irrigation schemes so as to obtain maximum returns from their land.Motivating farmers for diversification of areas from traditional crops to commercial crops.Undertaking measures to provide agricultural credit, crop insurance and helps the farmers in getting remunerative returns for their produce. Helping farmers through use of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) applications.
