Music Time
By Mr. Viera
K-2
While your K-2 student is at home, encourage them to teach your family their favorite songs, games, and dances from music class.
Check out all of the fun music games on musicplayonline.com! Username: snow Password: 2020
Here is a bingo board that combines activities from the art, music, and P.E. classrooms. Choose one or two of these activities to do per day. Once you've completed the board, email me a picture of it at eviera@sad4.org! I'd love to see how many people complete it!
3-4
While at home, there are a few different activities that you can do using technology.
Learn how to beatbox here!
Review the different instrument families with this video!
Kitchen Rhythms: Keep your rhythm skills fresh by reading through rhythms from this Rhythm Randomizer using items from your kitchen! (Spice shakers, pot drums, carrot rhythm sticks, etc.)
Explore music creation using the Chrome Music Lab! My favorite games on there are the Songmaker and Rhythm games.
Create your own rhythms using Groove Pizza. You can change the instruments and style as well!
Watch some great music videos. Nigel Stanford is a composer from New Zealand. He uses robots and science. Check out my favorite songs by him down below.
Grade 3
Our 3rd grade students have been working hard to learn a song for the spring concert. Here is a link to a video that they can practice singing along with.
5-6
Here are some music activities you can do at home! In addition to these, scroll up to check out my suggestions for grads 3-4.
Make Your Own Dance: Pick a song and come up with a short dance to go along with it. Video yourself doing it with your iPad and send them. If I get videos from 10 different students, I'll post a video of me dancing one of them.
Garageband: Explore the various tools in the Garageband app. The smart drums tool is a great way to start. Here's a tutorial explaining the various tools, and here's a great video showing just how much you can do.
Create Music: Writing music is always an option! Create a song that YOU enjoy, and use whatever you want to create it. You can sing, play percussion or another instrument, clap, snap, dance, etc. It's up to you! I've been writing a lot of music lately, and I'd love to hear yours! Feel free to email them to me: eviera@sad4.org
