Our Parish program is designed for children in grades 2-6.
If your child is older than grade 6, please connect with the Sacramental Preparation team to discuss preparation that will best suit your child's and family's needs. ALL are WELCOME!! sacramentalp@gmail.com
The actual schedule can be accessed on the home page. Specific dates will be posted for the current group (COHORT) of children and will be discussed at Parent Workshops. For each group of children, the general schedule is as follows:
Grade 2: FIRST RECONCILIATION: prepare after Christmas and receive the Sacrament early in Lent
Grade 3: CONFIRMATION: prepare Oct/Nov and receive the Sacrament early in December
Grade 3: FIRST EUCHARIST: (Communion): prepare in Spring and receive the Sacrament on the Feast of Corpus Christi (June)

If your child started with Reconciliation in winter and is planning to continue with Confirmation in fall and Communion in spring, NO ACTION is necessary to 'register' them for fall/spring; we assume they will be joining us; please let us know if they are not.
What is a COHORT? Think of a cohort as a group/team who starts together and follows the typical schedule together. A cohort does this:
Gr 2 Feb/March: Reconciliation GR 3 Oct-Dec: Confirmation Gr 3 Spring: Communion
If your child is not part of the current cohort, we do not know to expect you at the parent workshops or both of you at the children's sessions, so you need to contact the team by emailing Sacramentalprep@gmail.com.
If your child has already received one/some but not all of these Sacraments, please see the next question in the list.
If your child is part of their regular group (cohort) and you are planning to her/him follow the regular schedule as discussed at classes, NO ACTION is necessary for you to have them continue with the program. For example, if s/he was at Reconcilaition, we will naturally assume s/he will be joining us for Confirmation the falling autumn.
Sometimes, children start in a cohort/group but for many reasons do not move along with the above noted schedule. We also reocognize that children who started in a different Diocese may also have had a different schedule (for example, many diocese prepare for Confirmation last and at an older age).
We are prepared and happy to serve families at any point in their children's preparation! However, PLEASE DO NOT use any registration form on this website. The registration form is only for children who are 'just starting' and have not yet had Reconciliation. Please contact the Sacramental Preparation team directly @ sacramentalp@gmail.com so we can make the right plan for your child!
We have designed a program that will invite your family into joyful learning together! If you're wondering about time commitments, the bare minimum for EACH Sacrament is:
1 parent workshop: 90-120 minutes
2 family workshops: 2 hrs each
child and at least one parent must attend (no siblings!)
usually Saturday morning 9:00-11:00
As a parish, we recognize that families are wonderfully busy!
Our church's plan and policy is for parents and children to attend all sessions unless there is an avoidable circumstance. In general, 'make-up' sessions are not offered.
If other commitments are your family's priority, we are happy to welcome your family back into the next year's program (cohort). Please let us know if you need to put prepartion on hold and when you plan to return!
Our program ensures that you have ample opportunity to guide your child in ways that honour your family's faith journey. You will talk with your child about what they are learning about during the workshops and then reinforce these ideas at home when it suits your family. Almost all of your participation will be directly with your child and you will never be required to lead or share with the larger group. Regardless of how much you feel you 'know or don't know' about our Catholic faith, our workshops are designed to ensure that you can confidently, comfortably and joyfully support your child.
