The Sacandaga Lakers was founded to bring high-level soccer to a region that has long been underserved in the game. The communities around The Great Sacandaga Lake are full of passionate players and supporters, yet there have only been few opportunities to compete and represent the area at a higher level. Our mission is to change that. By building a competitive men’s club rooted in hard work, unity, and pride. We aim to put our area on the map and create something the entire community can rally behind.

The Lakers are more than a team, we are a platform for local talent, a symbol of community pride, and a step toward growing the game in our area. The Sacandaga Lakers represent a culture built on the L.A.K.E.R.S. standard: Leadership, Accountability, Kinship, Enjoyment, Respect and Success. Through dedication, teamwork, and passion, we strive to compete at the highest level while proudly representing our community.

The Sacandaga Lakers enter their inaugural season in the Upstate Premier League with the goal of establishing a strong foundation both on and off the field. In year one, the club’s primary focus is to make a name for itself through competitive play while building a clear identity that represents the spirit of the Sacandaga area. The Lakers aim to begin planting the seeds for long-term community support by connecting with local fans, businesses, and organizations that can grow alongside the club.

Looking ahead to years two and three, the Sacandaga Lakers hope to further strengthen their identity within the league and the surrounding community while moving toward a more professionalized club structure. This includes hosting youth soccer camps, participating in community service initiatives, and organizing a special marquee match dedicated to boosting community engagement, sponsors, and the club’s reputation. As the club continues to grow, the Lakers aim to align with the long-term vision of the Upstate Premier League, including potential promotion and relegation structures, with the ambition of consistently competing in the league’s top flight. In the future, the organization hopes to expand by adding a women’s team, contributing to the development of a potential women’s division and further growing the game in the area at all ages.

The Sacandaga Lakers are proudly rooted in The Great Sacandaga Lake area of upstate New York, representing the communities and culture that surround the lake. While the club’s identity is firmly tied to this area, the team will play its official home matches in Saratoga County. Just across the border from the Sacandaga, in order to comply with the requirements of the Upstate Premier League. Even with matches being played nearby, the Lakers remain committed to representing the Sacandaga community and the people who call it home.

Looking ahead, the club hopes to host a special cup match each season directly within the GSL area, bringing competitive soccer truly home to the region the team represents. The roster is primarily made up of players who are natives to the Sacandaga and surrounding upstate New York communities, helping create an authentic connection between the club and its supporters. The Lakers welcome select players from outside the area who share the club’s vision and values, helping strengthen the squad while contributing to the culture and identity the organization is working to build.
