Sabrina McClenithan was born and raised in Sarasota, Florida. Her family recalls she was singing before she could talk and her grandmother recalls her eyes glued on Andrea Bocelli in awe while performing on PBS. She pointed to the violin and asked if she could play it, so her grandmother enrolled her at the local Suzuki School of Music.
As a kid, Sabrina spent her time competing in violin competitions around Florida, singing opera to her stuffed animals, and putting on backyard performances for whatever audience she could find—including the snails she collected. After losing her father at the age of eight, she shifted her creative focus toward theater and immersed herself in Sarasota's performing arts community.
Over the years, Sabrina worked both onstage and behind the scenes as an actor, stage manager, costumer, lighting designer, makeup artist, and backstage crew member, among other titles she enjoyed digging her hands into. She graduated from Booker High School's Visual and Performing Arts program with a concentration in theater and a 4.0 GPA before briefly relocating to St. Augustine to continue her studies.
Though theater remained an important part of her life, music eventually pulled her back home. A self-described old soul with a hippie streak, Sabrina found her place in Sarasota's thriving live music scene, writing songs and playing local open mics before helping form the band Experimental Farm Road. While that project has since come to an end, Sabrina had many fond experiences such as playing many festivals including Fogartyville's Very Merry Jerry Day, The Will McClean Festival, The Hibiscus Festival, Street Fairs, and many other incredible venues.
While that project has since come to an end, she continues to perform as a solo artist and with her current projects, Whiskey & Willow with J. Santi and Starflower with Zeena Brown. She can also be found playing guitar and singing backups for Vital Groove.
Her influences range from country music and folk-rock staples like Carole King, CSNY, Buffalo Springfield, Cream, Amy Winehouse, and The Mamas & the Papas to cultural icons such as Lou Reed, David Bowie, Freddie Mercury, Cher, Dolly Parton and Elton John. Their spirit of creativity, individuality, and self-expression continues to shape her work today.
