This concentration of work revolves around the repair of broken objects in unconventional ways to serve as a metaphor for personal experiences that appear or feel to have “broken” or negatively affected oneself. It looked at the healing process and change that follows breakage and showed that imperfections or change do not need to be hidden, but should be accentuated and emphasized. The main focus was domestic, functional objects that often have a close relationship to the body or that you interact with to symbolize an individual. Many of the pieces were influenced by a Japanese process called kintsugi in which common objects are repaired using gold, silver, or platinum lacquer. It tries to embellish repaired areas to value the history of the object and give it new life.
