Sandwich Sabres Football Program,

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer thus far. This message is for all parents/students who have a child currently going into grade 9 or who are enrolled in Sandwich Secondary for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic year.

The Sandwich Sabres Football program will begin on Monday August 18th at 5:45pm. The schedule will be as follows:

Mon Aug 18th - Fri Aug 22nd - practice/tryouts. All players from grade 9 to 12 will be participating in NON-CONTACT drills to determine speed, footwork, strength, catching and throwing abilities. Players will be scored on their performance therefore Summer preparation (running, working out) is highly recommended.

**Players will need MOLDED football cleats, metal spikes are NOT allowed. You can purchase these at Nantais, SportChek, or order them online. Prices range from $50 to $190 per pair**

Players will be responsible for purchasing their own mouthguards along with a pair of cleats.

The Sandwich Sabres Football Program will provide every player with the following:

Helmet, shoulder pads, girdle (players are encouraged to buy their own if possible), practice pants, game pants, knee pads, thigh pads, hip/tail bone pads, belt, practice jersey, and game jersey.

Gloves are not provided.

All practices will take place on the field at Sandwich Secondary. Players will be expected to be on the field ready to warm up at 4:00pm.

These will be OPEN tryouts, every player who wants to learn how to play is encouraged to come out. We will keep as many players as we have equipment for. All you need is the equipment listed above and a commitment to come to practice everyday and learn. Any player enrolled at Sandwich is eligible to attend, so even if you are going into grade 9 this September, and you want to play football, you are encouraged to attend these practices

Players will be asked to adhere to the 3 pillars of our football program. These include:

1) Commitment in the classroom

2) Commitment in the community

3) Commitment on the football field

These core values will be fully explained and are non-negotiable.
