Our proposed workshop will feature a dynamic and interactive agenda designed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among AI and space weather experts. The program will include:
Keynote Presentations: Leading researchers from the fields of AI, space weather forecasting, and solar physics will deliver keynote presentations. These talks will provide insights into current advancements, challenges, and future directions in using AI for space weather research, covering topics such as machine learning in solar flare prediction, AI in real-time data processing, and AI-powered space weather models.
Accepted Paper Presentations: Selected papers and research proposals from an open call for contributions will be presented. These presentations will highlight cutting-edge research on AI applications in space weather, innovative methodologies for data analysis, and case studies demonstrating the practical impact of AI-powered models on space weather forecasting and mitigation.
NSF Panels: The Westin Alexandria Old Town Hotel is within walking distance of NSF. We aim to invite several NSF program directors to give a panel about funding directions and opportunities.
We prefer to have a full-day workshop.
The target audience for this workshop includes researchers, scientists, and professionals from diverse fields such as AI, machine learning, solar physics, and space weather. This audience also includes graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, data scientists, and engineers who are interested in applying AI to the analysis, prediction, and mitigation of space weather impacts. Additionally, policymakers, industry professionals from sectors reliant on space weather forecasting (such as telecommunications, aviation, and satellite operations), and interdisciplinary collaborators seeking to explore AI’s potential in space research will also benefit from this workshop.

"We are excited about the opportunity to invite 1-2 keynote speakers to our event, especially with this year’s ICDM taking place in Washington, DC. This location will enable us to connect with NASA scientists from the Heliophysics Division at NASA Headquarters and the nearby Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC). We particularly plan to extend keynote invitations to Dr. Jack Ireland, the head scientist at GSFC and program director of the Virtual Solar Observatory, along with Dr. Barbara J. Thompson, one of the lead project scientists for NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory mission during its development and early flight."
