The thillana serves as the finale to a Bharatnatyam recital. It has a pallavi, anupallavi, and charnam. In the charnam, there is a short verse of sahithya (song) addressing a deity which concludes with the signature of the composer. Aspects of the thillana include the mei adavus, korvais, sculpturesque poses and the pancha nadai jathis.
Pushpanjali is performed to offer a handful of flowers, go around the stage to bow to the gods. It nullifies all obstacles, protects the spectators and those involed in the dance, and pleases the gods.
Allaripu means that which blossoms and gives joy. It begins with the anjali mudra above the head followed by movements of the shoulders and the entire body . It serves as a warm up to the dancer.
The Jathiswaram is a beuatiful dance showing a visual interpretation of the patterns of musical notes. It has a pallavi and at least 3 charanaswarams.
