Master | Bachelor | Hiwi Position
We offer unique topics for interdisciplinary research projects, always with a focus on medical data analysis to enhance diagnosis and therapy. Our fields include artifical intelligence and deep learning, machine learning, image processing, and visualization. You're welcome to send us your unsolicited application via email at: saalfeldlab [at] gmail.com
(Manual) Vessel Segmentation
We are looking for a student assistant ("Hiwi") for carrying out vessel segmentation in tomographic image data. After the segmentation, a transformation into 3D surface models should be carried out, including postprocessing of the surface meshes.

Vessel Tree Analysis
We want to develop an automatical vessel tree analysis tool for medical vascular structures. This is important for tumor surgery planning (which vessel should be spared? which vessel is at risk by the tumor location? ...) but also for stroke analysis (which vessel supporting the brain might be hampered?). The topic is suitable for a bachelor or master thesis.

Virtual Reality for Surgery Planning
We are looking for a student interested in developing virtual reality (VR) applications using Unity for support of liver surgery planning. The VR project should include gamification aspects (like high scores etc.) to engage the medical users and increase their motivation.
The topic is suitable for a bachelor or master thesis.

Image-2-Image Translation
For our research projects, we want to train and test DL networks for an automatic image-2-image translation, for example a conversion from CT to ultrasound and vice versa.
The topic is suitable for a bachelor or master thesis.
