About me
I am a PhD student in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin. I enrolled in Fall 2017 in the Decision, Information and Communication Engineering (DICE) track. I will be joining Qualcomm R&D in San Diego, CA as a Senior Engineer in August 2022.
I am currently working as a member of the Wireless Networking and Communication Group (WNCG) with Prof. de Veciana on network modeling and analysis projects, applied to vehicular communication and Edge/Cloud Computing.
My main research interests lie at the intersection between Mobile Networking, Edge Computing and Wireless Communications.

Selected Projects
Ergonomic UAV Control Using Eye-Tracking (Final Year Design Project, Fall 2016-Spring 2017):
Implemented a hands-free HCI system to control intuitively a set of drones using eye-tracking for surveillance applications. The camera feed is received from the camera on the drone to a control room where the user can command the drone movements simply by looking at the target location on the screen. Minimizing the latency between all the sub-systems for a smooth and intuitive experience.

Performance Analysis of Camera-based Receivers for Vehicle-to-Vehicle Visible Light Communication Systems (Research Project, Prof. Dawy, Fall 2016 - Summer 2017)
Constructed a camera-based transceiver system and simulator for Visible Light Communication applied to Vehicle-to-Vehicle scenarios. Derived an accurate model for the channel noise on Matlab before conceiving and optimizing modulation schemes to minimize the effect of noise on the system. Implemented the transceiver in hardware to verify the simulated results. Prepared for extensions of the camera-based VLC system such as MIMO and link adaptation techniques.
Transceiver Performance Analysis over a Wireless Channel (Course: Wireless Communication, Fall 2016)
Designed a transceiver and analyzing its performance over an AWGN wireless channel with Rayleigh fading, under different channel conditions. Compared the improvements associated with different channel coding schemes, decision decoding methods, and the usage of diversity techniques for better performances. Conceived a Matlab based simulator and user interface to generate and plot the results.
Precision Irrigation System (Research Project, Prof. Kurdahi, Summer 2016)
Developed a precision irrigation system providing water optimally to a crops field, using data collected by a Bluetooth Low Energy based Wireless Sensors Network to minimize the water and energy consumption, and maximize the crops yield. Implemented algorithms as well as simulation and testing tools (C, Matlab and Android platforms) to discover the pipes network and route the water to the desired spot. Designed a hardware prototype of the system.
Scalable Multimedia Streaming Mobile Application (Research Project, Prof. Dawy , Fall 2015 - Summer 2017)
Conceived an Android networking mobile testbed application which purpose is to broadcast a streaming video from a server to a group of Wi-Fi Direct inter-connected (clustered) mobile devices monitored by the server, and playing the video simultaneously. Investigated, analyzed and implemented the impact of different strategies on the network’s performance to improve the quality of service and the user’s experience in dense and dynamic environments.
