About Scouting America
Scouting America provides the nation’s foremost youth program of character development and values-based leadership training, which helps young people be “Prepared. For Life.®” The Scouting organization is composed of more than 1 million youth members between the ages of 5 and 21 and more than 628,000 volunteers throughout the United States and its territories.
Troops are Scout led. The Troop program and activities are determined by the Senior Patrol Leader (a youth Scout) and the Patrol Leaders Council (youth Scouts) under the oversight of the Scoutmasters and with assistance of the Adult Committee as needed. SA also offers career-oriented co-ed Exploring programs to youth age 10 through 20. Youth may be registered in more than one program simultaneously.
