STUDENTS ARE GIVEN A CHOICE OF CLAIMS TO INVESTIGATE:

1. Around 90% of Australian children are looking at screens each week, and most of them are doing so for 10 or more hours (ABS, 2019). Screen based activities include watching TV, using the Internet or playing screen-based games (including playing games on consoles and activities via smart phones or tablets (ABS, 2019). 2. Desktop or laptop computers are used by 91% of internet connected households (ABS, 2018). Similarly, mobile or smart phones are also used by 91% of internet connected households (ABS, 2018). Tablets were the next most popular type of device used by 66% of households to connect to the internet (ABS, 2018). Students are required to design a survey with an appropriate recording sheet to investigate their question. They must complete the following:

• Identify and classify the variable.
• Identify the population and determine sample size.
• Choose sampling method and justify their choice.
• Compare their results to their chosen claim. Account for any differences/identify factors that could have resulted in unrepresentative or unreliable data.
• Attach survey and completed recording sheet.
