S2S – Safe to School is a Virtual Reality-based road safety training game designed for school children. The game aims to improve pedestrian behaviour by providing an immersive and interactive learning environment.
The application simulates real-world Indian traffic conditions, allowing users to experience situations such as zebra crossings, signalised intersections, and roadside obstructions. Through these scenarios, children learn safe road-crossing practices in a controlled virtual setting.
The system monitors user actions such as movement, head orientation, and decision-making behaviour. Based on these inputs, the game evaluates whether proper safety rules are followed, including looking right–left–right before crossing and avoiding unsafe road entry.
This project is developed as part of academic research at National Institute of Technology Calicut, focusing on improving road safety awareness using Virtual Reality technology.
Users interact with realistic traffic environments through a head-mounted display, enabling safe and controlled learning of road-crossing behaviour.
