S-STEM Scholarships Program

Eligibility Information

To be eligible for the S-STEM (SUCCESS-CSE) scholarships for fall 2021, you must:

o be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien;

o be enrolled full time in the BS program in Computer Science and
Engineering
;

o be low-income students (i.e. Pell grant eligible);

· You will be required to submit a UofL Pell Award Letter provided by the UofL Financial Aid Office

o demonstrate solid academic potential, including:

· for freshmen, 1) both ACT composite and math scores at 24 or above*, and 2) high school GPA of at least 3.0

· for juniors, a 3.0 cumulative GPA and a 3.0 GPA in major CSE/CS course work

· résumé highlighting academic and extracurricular achievements

· two recommendation letters: including one recommendation letter from a teacher/faculty in the student’s program of study (high school or college), and another letter from someone other than the student’s immediate family.

· an essay about your professional goals, motivations, and the level of interest and experience in computer science and/or computer engineering

· a high-school transcript (for freshman) or college transcript (for juniors)


In order to initiate the S-STEM application process, you are required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), if you have not already done so for the 2021-2022 academic year. *Due to the impact of COVID-19 on standardized testing schedules, ACT scores for applying freshmen may be waived.

Deadlines and Related Information

o You must complete and submit your FAFSA online by the time scholarship applications are reviewed on April 30th, 2021.

o You must filled out an S-STEM application form with required information (click "Apply Now" at the top of the page to do so) April 30th, 2021.

Note that the applications will be accepted on a rolling basis; we will close the application process when we have filled all positions. To maximize your chance to be considered, please submit your materials by the application deadline.

Note that those who are selected as finalists may also be asked to participate in interviews with the S-STEM faculty team, to be scheduled in early spring 2021.
