Welcome to my digital portfolio! My name is Solana Rostick and I am a junior at Wofford! Here I have one of my favorite abstract paintings done by Mildred Thompson titled Magnetic Fields.
I am majoring in Art History and concentrating in African American Studies. I am interested in modern and contemporary art, specifically abstract expressionism. I am also interested in the Black Arts Movement, specifically art that intersects feminism and race. As far as involvement, I am a member of the Wofford Asian and Pacific Islander Organization (WAPPI), Black Student Alliance, Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), and Kappa Alpha Theta. I also work at the Rosalind Sallenger Art Galleries, as an attendant and volunteer at the Spartanburg Art Museum.
This semester I had the pleasure of taking Museum Studies: Theory and Practice, taught by Dr. Youmi Efurd, the curator of the Rosalind Sallenger Art Galleries here at Wofford College. Throughout the semester we have been looking at the importance of museums and the need for diversity, visitor engagement, and educational resources. Along with readings and discussion we have completed three creative projects a digital portfolio, an exhibition catalog, and a educational module designed for elementary children. Here you will find both my exhibition catalog and the educational program. Lastly my contact information will be on the last tab.
