About
Murali Subramaniyam is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Chungnam National University, Daejeon, South Korea, in 2015. Following his doctoral studies, he served as a Senior Research Scientist at the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS), Daejeon, South Korea.
With over two decades of experience in research and academia, Dr. Murali specializes in Human Factors and Ergonomics, 3D Printing, Human Emotion and Sensibility, and Seating Comfort. His multidisciplinary expertise spans Digital Human Modeling (DHM), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and 3D Anthropometry. He has successfully led numerous R&D projects in collaboration with academic institutions, government agencies, and leading players in the automotive and healthcare sectors.
Dr. Murali currently serves as the Director of the International Committee of the 16th Foreign Cooperation Division of the Korean Society for Emotion and Sensibility (KOSES)—a distinguished honorary role that underscores his international engagement and leadership in cross-cultural academic and research collaborations.
He actively collaborates with both domestic and international partners. In India, he works closely with institutions such as Tagore College of Physiotherapy, Chennai. His international academic collaborations include Dongyang University and Kumoh National Institute of Technology in South Korea, and The University of Georgia, USA. He also partners with industry leaders such as Sewon Intelligence, South Korea.
His contributions to the field are reflected in 75 publications and 23 patents (including 19 granted and 4 published). He is currently involved in four active research projects and has successfully completed 26 collaborative initiatives with industry and government bodies.
A passionate educator and mentor, Dr. Murali teaches courses such as Design of Experiments, Manufacturing Technology, Metrology, CAD/CAM, Flexible Manufacturing System, and Process Planning and Cost Estimation. He is committed to fostering innovation, advancing interdisciplinary research, and nurturing the next generation of engineers.
Dr. Murali is a proud member of several professional bodies, including the Korean Society for Emotion and Sensibility, Indian Society of Ergonomics, SAE India, and the Institution of Engineers (India).
