Motivation of Research

Tribology is “The science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion and of related subjects and practices”. Generation of friction leads to energy loss. On the other hand, wear also leads to surface damage. Therefore, proper friction control is very important for a low-carbon society and stable operation of mechanical systems.

I am challenging to building new lubrication systems. For example, I research the lubricating mechanism of "Ionic Liquids" as functional fluid using many analysis tools such as Q-MS, XPS, FT-IR, AFM, and so on. In addition, I try to manipulate the friction coefficient by controlling the ionic liquids-derived electric double layer.
