Research Experiences

I am a research scientist of CyberAgent, Inc., AI tech studio, AI Lab, Activity Understanding Team. I was a postdoctoral/visiting scholar of Collaborative Haptics and Robotics in Medicine (CHARM) Lab at Stanford University and a JSPS Overseas Postdoctoral Research Fellow from 2021 to 2024. I received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Engineering (System Design) from Keio University (Japan) in 2016, 2018, and 2021, respectively. I have been working on ubiquitous intelligent measurement and sensory feedback systems for human performance design, which include (A) wearable/ambient sensor systems for motion sensing using multi-sensor fusion and machine learning, and (B) wearable/portable haptic devices for motion guidance, navigation, and control.

I am a co-funder of Humonii, which is developing a semi-automated wheelchair with intuitive control using motion sensing and haptic feedback.  We are a team currently participating in "Mobility for ALL―Bringing the Potential of Mobility to Everyone" category of its Make a Move Project, an idea contest aiming to realize the practical implementation of ideas and solutions in society, organized by Toyota Mobility Foundation.

I was also a co-funder and organizer of Japanese Academic Seminars at Stanford (JASS), which is an academic seminar series for the Japanese language community at Stanford University. In this seminar series, researchers from Stanford and surrounding research institutions and companies are invited as speakers to share their research topics in an easy-to-understand manner for participants from various backgrounds regardless of academia/industry. We also hold "Academia Meets Industry," an industry-academia exchange program, where companies and startups are invited to make business pitches.
