Engine bays of most vehicles, including 44 diesel engines, are already significantly compact, making it difficult to add any new products. The Ryco filters team decided to create a completely new range of high-quality accessory filter kits, which would include brackets, fittings and molded hoses. The goal was to make these popular filters fit much more easily in the engine bays.

If so, RYCO offers a wide range of filters and filtration accessories including inline spin-on, heavy duty inline, tank top, suction strainers, diffusers, air breather, filler cap/strainer, push-on filler as well as level and temperature gauges.

RYCO introduces new filters each year to remain at the forefront of the industry! With the development of improved filtration materials, the performance of RYCO filters has increased meaning improved filtration at no extra cost for you.

Ryco filters are designed to meet the demanding needs of harsh Australian conditions in the most challenging environments. You can protect your new car warranty by servicing your vehicle with Ryco Filters, delivering superior performance in the 3 critical areas of Efficiency, Life and Flow.

Ryco, established in 1936, is a dominant player in oil filters and associated parts. It has found strong acceptance from customers for a new RCC360 product that traps contaminants such as fine oil droplets, enabling filtered gas to pass through to the engine intake without harming the engine.

So decided to start servicing my car myself since it's well and truly out of warranty. Dropped down to Super Cheap and grabbed some oil and a filter (Z663 to suit 6.0L VE Holden). When I removed the old filter (it was also a Ryco Z663) it was really on there, and once i got it loose it was still tight to unscrew, at the time I thought it may have been cross threaded. When installing the new filter it was the same, went on fairly easily and got harder to turn fairly quickly, removed and checked the thread and all seemed ok so i reinstalled and tightened by hand. Once everything else was done i started the car and after a few seconds heard a pop and hiss. Turned the car off and found oil leaking out from on top of the filter. So I went down to Holden and grabbed an AC Delco filter. When i installed it, it felt like it should, screwing on smooth all the way (I've changed plenty of oil filters on other cars before).

Guy's, remember that just because two different part number filters are listed for the same engine (in different model cars), it doesn't necessarily mean that those filters have different threads or that they're actually incompatible.

I emailed Ryco yesterday and a rep called me pretty much within the hour. He was pretty good and asked me to send a couple of photos of the filters and hang onto them in case they want them sent back. Will let you know what happens.

Some filters are positioned awkwardly to get good purchase on them with your hands, and you often end up spinning them with just the pressure of the thumb and a few fingers on one hand. Even so, I still like to get the filter nicely seated like this, so that I can feel the resistance of the o-ring as it's starting to seal. But then it's a 1/3 to  turn with the filter wrench to be sure it's all good.

Spoke to Ryco today after emailing him some photos. They've asked me to send both filters back for inspection and they'll process a warranty claim if they find them to be faulty at their end. Pretty easy crew to deal with. 006ab0faaa
