My current research focuses on pedagogical practices and interventions to support students in providing feedback to peers when engaged in teamwork.
I began working with my advisor, Dr. Wanju Haung, in 2021 to analyze student feedback using the CATME survey. Using the five CATME dimensions, we analyzed thousands of student entries to determine what students focus on when providing feedback to their teammates.
Recently, we have been exploring the quality of the feedback and have developed training to help students provide better feedback based on models of effective feedback. Related to this research, we developed an in-person training to allow students to explore effective feedback in CATME and begin to develop as a team. In January 2024, I converted this in-person training into an asynchronous e-learning module. Future research will explore this module's effectiveness in improving student self-and-peer feedback as the module can be used by all institutions that implement CATME in their curriculum.
