RYANN LYNN MURPHY

actor & writer

A tour de force in her comedic style, riffing on topical issues, and driving home contemporary themes, Ryann Lynn Murphy is a writer and actor based out of New York City. Hailing all the way from Long Island, New York, she's no stranger to bold characters and tough stories. Her writing centers queerness, transgender issues, gender-based violence, and modern romance. Usually her plays consist of black comedy mixed with a meta-theatrical element to create a night of laughing with tears in your eyes and punches to your gut. Beyond her writing, she loves to act. Like so many do... She's had a passion for acting since she was just four years old, falling in love with the Broadway production of The Little Mermaid. All she wanted to do was hop on stage and sing "Part of Your World" while flipping her mermaid tail. She is pursuing a BA in Theatre with concentrations in Performance and Playwriting at Fordham University. She is an involved student as the Playwriting Concentration Representative, a Student Theatre Ambassador, Season Planning Committee Member and Genderqueer Affinity Group member. She also works in the Fordham Theatre Office as clerical worker for the program. Most recently she performed in Fordham's MainStage production of A Midsummer Night's Dream as Titania/Hippolyta. UPCOMING: Norma in A Medea Play directed by Cora Therber.
