The Noetic Learning Math Contest (2nd-5th grade) is a problem-solving contest for elementary and middle school students held in the fall and spring. Kids do not have to be in the GT program to participate if you have a sibling or friend who wants to try it. The purpose of the contest is to inspire young students to excel in math and convey the message ‘It is COOL to be good at math!.’ Students are asked to solve 20 problems independently within one 45 minute period. It is very challenging, so it's designed for only a few students to get all of the questions right (kind of like a spelling bee). That is why we focus on the effort and risk-taking involved in participating in the contest. Ms. Tisha provides support with a practice session and sample questions, plus you can sign up to get weekly problems emailed to you at the Noetic Problem of the Week page. Please let our GT Advisor know if you're interested in signing up!
