In the spirit of friendly competition, the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University will host a scrimmage robotics competition open to IEEE students in Region 3. We hope this gets students from the surrounding area excited for the IEEE Souheatcon Hardware Competition (link) in Orlando in 2023.
Scrimmage Rules
The IEEE competition releases their rules on their website (link). The rules are also in a google drive made public by the IEEE competition organizers (link) which is available above . They answer questions about the competition on their discord page (link). We will organize our competition around these rules. Mississippi State will provide the game board and game items.
Please bring your robot, any tools you need, and your celebration video that the rules specify.
The competition rules will update throughout the year. We, however, will pull the latest updates to the rules as of December 15 2022 at 11:59 PM from the website and email those rules to the teams the next morning, December 16 20222. This way our students know what to expect for February.
Each team will have three matches in the qualifying round. Each match will be three minutes long. After the preliminary round, the top two scoring teams will compete in a final match. The highest scoring team in the final round is the winner.
Each team will need to provide an MP4 version of the celebration video.
Team Makeup
To get ready for the competition in Orlando, we are following the team guidelines from the competition. The team participants must also be undergraduate students. While the IEEE conference allows for open teams to compete, only one student team is allowed per institution at this competition at Mississippi State. There are no limits on team size.
Team Registration
For each person on the team, please register at this link before February 1 2023. This same link is also above the rules section under "Team Registration." Filling out this form will allow us at Mississippi State enough time to secure catering and organize a suitable location on campus.
Volunteer Registration
