Hi, I'm Dr Ryan Thomas Williams
Academic Biography
Dr Ryan Thomas Williams is the course tutor for the online MBA and DBA programmes at Teesside University.
He completed his BSc and PhD at Teesside University. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
His research focuses on incorporating technology into pedagogy. Ryan is also interested in contemporary issues related to research methods, such as internet ethics, and the ethical implications of using artificial intelligence for data analysis.
Ryan’s research has been published in business and social science journals, including Research in Post-Compulsory Education, Practice: Contemporary Issues in Practitioner Education, Frontiers in Education, and the Berkman Klein Centre at Harvard University.
His research has been cited in QA Education, the Social Body Lab at Oxford University, and a variety of other publications. He is interested in software project management and has contributed several editorials to business publications.
Ryan has taught extensively at Teesside University, the University of Liverpool, and the University of Sunderland. He has primarily been involved in the research methods modules on the International MBA and DBA programmes as a module leader, lecturer and project supervisor.
He has developed multiple research methods modules underpinned by ethical case method seminars. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he devised a series of research methods workshops for NHS employees transitioning into managerial positions. This project was funded by the European Social Fund.
As a Google for Education Certified Trainer, Ryan attends meetings with Google to provide input on newly developed products and features for teaching and learning.
Ryan is passionate about integrating technology into education and has been involved in a variety of education technology initiatives as a consultant, advising institutions on administrative and pedagogical best practices. Ryan participates in management meetings and change control boards, functioning as a highly successful business partner by developing policies, budgets, bids, and procedures related to education projects. He has worked with Philip Morris International, and Abyasa Limited.
In 2014, Ryan won the Teesside's Business Idea on a Beermat competition, for which he was invited to a ceremony at Buckingham Palace where he met Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. In 2023, Ryan was nominated for the Most Inspirational Member of University Staff and Tutor Who Provides Outstanding Feedback award.
In 2023, Ryan started creating short micro-videos explaining different inferential and quantitative analyses on TikTok and YouTube.
Ryan is currently accepting PhD students.
