Despite some misleading meteorological information predicting rain from around 5 pm onwards, a small group ventured out to Alton Barnes and climbed Knap Hill, which has impressive views over Pewsey Vale. The hillside has a wide variety of plant and insect life as well a herd of bullocks to contend with at the entrance. However, they were in a placid mood and the most challenging aspect was finding where to step.

During the evening, conditions changed with a grey overcast sky to start with, before some brief sunshine brought the landscape to life. The stiff breeze brought in a few spots of rain, and rain clouds were very evident in the distance, but they didnt threaten for the early part of the evening.  However, as time wore on, a rain front moved in which coincided with our departure to the sanctuary of our vehicles in the car park below and thertefater at The Barge Inn for some refreshments.
