Because technology is dynamic, our understanding of the most effective and responsive means to connect with students must be as dynamic. Ongoing professional development, then, is a central component to effective online teaching.

Peer Online Course Review
After completing the @ONE Peer Online Course Review course, I joined my campus's new POCR team and fully aligned my English Composition course to the OEI-rubric. My course is now being used on campus to train other faculty how to align their own courses with the rubric. Once this happens, I will start reviewing fellow faculty members' courses for alignment to the rubric.
As the move to 100% online education in the past few weeks came as a shock to us all, I volunteered as a point person for my department (English) to help train faculty in how to use Canvas and ConferZoom to make online education both easy and interactive for students new to the format. I held a virtual training for faculty in March 2020 and continue to help faculty one-on-one as needed.
