Hello! I'm Ruth Wye (previously Ruth Pugh), and I'm a PhD student at the University of Bath, supervised by Professor Alastair Craw.
My research is in Algebraic Geometry, and particular interests are Quiver varieties, Hilbert schemes, and Geometric Invariant Theory (GIT). I am currently also looking at the Cox ring of some of these varieties and whether we can find an interesting description of this.
Before I came to Bath, I was an undergraduate at the University of Warwick, where my 4th Year MMath Project was entitled "Multigraded Hilbert Functions", and was supervised by Professor Diane Maclagan.

Responsibilities:
In 2023/24, I organised the Postgraduate Seminar in the department. I also co-ordinate a group for Women/Non-binary maths PhD students and postdocs, and arrange social events for us.
My research is kindly funded by a PhD studentship from the Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research.
In my spare time, I enjoy going on walks (the header picture is of Westbury white horse), singing and playing board games.
