Ruth 1:15-17
Ruth's Commitment to Our LORD
15 "Look," said Naomi, "your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with her."
16 But Ruth replied, "Don't urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. 17 Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried.
In the Book of Ruth, Ruth makes several commitments...One is to Naomi, one to Naomi's people (the Hebrews), and one (later) to Boaz...The most important commitment Ruth will make is to God...
Ruth goes on to marry Boaz...She would be the mother of Obed, the father of Jesse...Jesse is the father of David, (King David)...This was a blessing for Naomi, who had lost both her sons in Moab, as well as losing her husband...In fact, Ruth's husband was Naomi's son...Naomi, at the end of the Book of Ruth, lays Obed on her lap and cares for him...
Even though Ruth and Naomi had to grieve and have troubled times with the death's of husbands and close relatives, God was with them...Ruth's commitment to the LORD would end up both a blessing for her and her mother-in-law Naomi...Ruth remarried a kind, God loving man in Boaz, and she would have a child, and family...
