No experience is necessary! Engineers in Action has a website with online coursework that all members complete to learn how to do everything: design, site plan, project management, construction, logistics, etc. There is a course for everything! During the school year, student teams are assigned sites and other schools to work with. They collaborate with each other, along with their assigned Bridge Corps (Professional Engineers who volunteer with the organization) to complete pre-travel deliverables. They present and document information about the site conditions, design the bridge, and then present information about travel logistics. That whole process takes about four months. Afterwards in the summer, a few students from each school travel for two months to the assigned location and physically build the bridge along with their Bridge Corp, local masons, and local people. Each student has a job which they take a course to learn about and they do that on top of constructing the bridge.
