Making a Difference Today

The Ruston Lions Club engages in a number major projects during the year. Some of these projects are fundraisers, while the others are community service projects.

Fundraisers have included the Chicken Barbecue and the Lions Golf Tournament. Members support these projects in a variety of ways, including the sale of tickets and sponsorship, publicity, setup and preparation for the events, support on the day of the events, cleanup, etc.

Community service projects have included CubSight and Salvation Army Bell Ringers. CubSight is a preschool vision screening program designed to prevent childhood blindness through early detection and treatment for the most common vision disorders that can lead to amblyopia (lazy eye). Members support this program by volunteering for Screening Teams who conduct sessions of 1-2 hours duration during normal school hours.
