I was wondering if anyone knew of any online tools for converting Cyrillic print to handwriting? I was not able to find searching for this in English so didn't know if there were any Russian websites that provide such penmanship practice. I wasn't sure the best phrase to search for this by in Russian. Thank you!

I'm working on a Russian handwriting character recognition. For example, I have a picture of some letter and my system should recognize most of the symbols on this picture. I have a problem with datasets for recognition. I found some datasets for English handwriting symbols like this one. My question is: Where can I find datasets of Russian handwriting symbols because I failed to google it?

When I started a new Russian school and it was clear that I would have to learn Russian handwriting in order to keep up with the pace and also improve my studying velocity. I learnt the basics in three weeks.

About a year ago I started working on the book to gather my thoughts on this process. In the summer the work really started when I bought an iPad because I could easily render handwriting without having to resort to photographs and scans.

By slowing down and figuring out not only what the correct answer is, but how to properly write in in handwriting will actually help you pace yourself, pay more attention to your endings, your spelling and your sentence structure. So where do these difficulties in reading Cyrillic cursive come from? Why is Russian cursive so scary and what should you do to improve your Russian handwriting skills?

Today, the lack of attention to Russian handwriting caused the beautifully sloping letters of Russian cursive to change into the hot mess you saw in the images above.

If you can read the printed Russian letters and are planning to go to Russia you might find yourself at a disadvantage as you will encounter handwritten signs and even names of stores, stations, and other important things printed in the script that mimics the handwriting.

In fact, perhaps unlike some cursive scripts I see daily used in Europe/US at least, the seeming purpose of Russian cursive writing is to write a word, or large parts thereof, as one line without picking up the pen from the paper and seeking to a new position to start the next letter of the same word. This "built-in" habit from the school impacts my handwriting in other languages, which some native-speakers (and native-readers) then reported to be curious and not the way they would write the same words and sentences.

The recognition of a handwritten text is a classical computer science problem for which neural networks have recently been successfully applied. However, to achieve high accuracy, a modern neural network requires not only large computational resources but also a huge amount of data for learning. One of the most well-known ways to increase the amount of data for learning is augmentation, which is the generation of additional data from existing data. There are different ways to augment graphical data, varying from the simplest techniques such as image shifting to the most sophisticated methods in which data are generated using generative adversarial neural networks. This paper discusses various approaches to generating examples of human handwriting to improve the quality of handwriting recognition. Handwriting generation is a quite complex procedure that includes steps of generating characters, of combining them into words, and of final processing. There are many papers describing these stages for foreign languages, but not for Russian. The purpose of this paper is to summarize the current approaches in the field of handwriting generation and to develop an approach to the augmentation of human handwriting in the Russian language.

Make your short comments in clear handwriting in the marginsand write your overall qualitative evaluation at the end, printing your name.
