Professor Russell Harris has been a research intensive academic for over 20 years, leading multi-disciplinary teams in large externally funded research projects. His research is characterised by the motivation that new manufacturing processes can provide transformative new capabilities and benefits to our society. He was first granted a personal Professorial chair in 2012 at Loughborough University where I headed the Additive Manufacturing Research Group and led the University-level research theme in Enabling Technologies. Since 2016 he was Professor and head of the Future Manufacturing Processes Research Group at the University of Leeds. Since 2025 he is now Professor of Manufacturing Research and head of the Manufacturing Technologies Research Group at the Manchester Metropolitan University.
