CIS257C: Cloud Implementation & Security

This course prepares students to understand cloud computing, analyze cloud technologies, secure cloud infrastructures, learn different cloud types and services, and manage virtual servers and cloud storage.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Describe cloud computing services and compare different vendor cloud products

  • Understand different types of clouds such as public, private and hybrid

  • Describe classical, virtual and cloud-based virtual servers and storage systems

  • Identify tools for cloud computing management and monitoring

  • Create and configure virtual machines

  • Demonstrate backup and recovery operations with snapshots

  • Describe aspects of cloud security

  • Analyze, identify and demonstrate common virtualization and cloud computing vulnerabilities

  • Manage and secure the virtual machines and storage infrastructure

  • Create a cloud-based virtual data center
