'Social Movement' is a fact of any society and that is why it needs to be understood scientifically. Social Movements should also discussed in a theoretical framework. Even to understand How and Why Social Change happens, we must understand why Movements begin and what they impact. Even its impact can also be analyzed in the literature. 'Sociology of Social Movement' is a course designed by Rushiraj Upadhyay. It's a Massive Online Open Course (MOOC) given by the Consortium of Educational Communication, New Delhi. This course will be based on 4 credits and 15 weeks. In each week enrolled students will get 1 or 2 video content of lecture, which is based on the syllabus. This course covers most of the topics of Introduction of Social Movements, theories of social movements, Typologies of social movements, Ideologies – leadership – Mobilization, and movements like Reform Movements, Revivalist Movements, Women’s movements, Working Class Movements, Tribal Movements, Dalit Movements, Peasant Movements Etc. This course is designed considering Indian students. Therefore, Indian movements are discussed in various modules of this course.
