I'll be spending most of my time in the Championship and time trials for the leaderboards, so the graphical compromises in race mode isn't an issue for me. It's a rally game, it's all about time trials. The racing is just a bonus. Plus it has ghosts to race against.

Stumbled across this game whilst searching for 'best rally games on Switch'. Gave the demo a quick try on Android and it seems great (aside from touch controls) so planned to pick it up on Switch. All the comments here seem to suggest the game is 4.99 though and it's not, it's 11.99 which is slightly less of an 'impulse buy' price. Added to wish list though!

However, once new patterns are thrown into the mix, driving your rally car becomes quite difficult.

Before starting each race, at the bottom of the standings screen, are markers and text for the differing track content and weather situations. While Rush Rally Origins doesn't feature the in-depth tuning that other rally games do, you should still know ahead of time what you are getting yourself into.

A major component to rally racing, in general, is working alongside your co-driver. Your co-driver is there to navigate for you, like a personal GPS of sorts. Typically this is done through pace notes. Pace notes are directions read aloud by your co-driver that tell you about upcoming corners, jumps, and other track changes.

Rush Rally Origins features a plethora of rally cars to choose from. The game starts with a handful to choose between depending on the style and stats that suit you. Each car handles differently and can be tailored to your liking with various liveries and color schemes. Most of the starting cars are similar in stats with only minimal stat differences such as acceleration and handling.

The game features a clever unlock mechanic whereby you open up new cars by driving a set number of miles. Essentially, the more you play the game, the more cars you unlock. Some of the best cars (with the best stats) are naturally going to take a significant amount of time and driving miles to unlock.

Fortunately, you can recover from being in the red, which happens when you are achieving a slower stage time. The best way to get better times in each section and thus staying in the green is to simply familiarize yourself with each track's layout. Understanding the corners, jumps, terrain, and pace notes will all help you get better times overall and in turn, makes you a better rally driver.

Rush Rally Origins offers three separate game modes, Time Trial, Championship, and Race. The Race mode is perfect for a quick match against the AI, Championship requires you to complete multiple races in a row against the AI, and Time Trial is precisely that, a timed solo racing mode. The more you race, the more you can upgrade your vehicles. You'll also unlock new cars and tracks the more you race, so racing is indeed the key to success. The thing is, this is a proper rally game, and by that, I mean it's challenging. You will have to race repeatedly just to earn the upgrades needed to advance, but since this is a premium game, the grind is evenly paced.

All in all, Rush Rally Origins is a surprisingly polished racer that should please any rally racing fan. It's a rare day when we see quality premium games released on the Play Store, especially content designed to appeal to the hardcore.
