Deathworx's musical style is considerably different from Rupp's first project, United Fishing Rod. Rupp was he obsessed with alternative rock. He liked the alternative rock sound, but the nu metal and alternative metal had always been his favorite. He describes Deathworx as the band he he always wanted since he was young. He made a particular point about the fact that he is the guitarist and the vocalist of the band and that he has wanted to be a guitarist and vocalist, because he wants to "show I have talent, instead of just words coming out of my mouth." Rupp was pleased with the recordings from their debut album.
