Welcome to RUPP-B4P Thermal Comfort App (RUPP-B4P-TC). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application for scientific research regarding urban environmental perceptions and human thermal comfort levels. This app is an academic tool for urban planning and climate study.

We collect information that you provide directly to us through the app’s research tools. No user account or login is required to use this app.

• Demographic Data: We collect your Age and Gender to ensure diversity and statistical accuracy in our environmental research.

• Location Data: We collect precise location information (Latitude and Longitude) only at the moment you submit your survey to link environmental perceptions to specific geographical conditions.

• Thermal Comfort Survey Data: We collect your responses to 8 specific questions regarding:

  1. Thermal sensation (how you feel).

  2. Comfort levels with current temperature.

  3. Acceptability of the current temperature.

  4. Perception of shaded areas.

  5. Satisfaction with air movement and ventilation.

  6. Adaptability to outside temperature. 

  7. Potential for thermal discomfort

  8. Overall satisfaction with the thermal environment.

• Usage Data: Technical information such as device type and crash reports (Analytics) to ensure app stability.

3. How We Use Your Information

The data collected is used strictly for scientific, urban planning, and academic purposes:

• Environmental Analysis: To analyze urban thermal comfort levels, the effectiveness of shaded areas, and human adaptability to climate in specific micro-climates.

• Research Accuracy: Demographic data helps categorize results to ensure the research represents a broad population.

• Public Data Visualization: Anonymized survey results are shared on our dashboard: https://b4p-thermal.rupp.edu.kh/. No personally identifiable information (PII) is ever displayed.

• Informed Participation: By using this app, you acknowledge that this is a voluntary environmental survey. You may withdraw at any time by closing the app.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

• Academic Use: Data is shared only within the Build4People project and Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) research initiatives.

• No Commercial Use: We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or third-party commercial entities.

• Security: Data is transmitted securely via HTTPS to protected university servers.

5. Data Retention

We retain the collected research data only for as long as necessary to complete the scientific analysis and meet the academic requirements of the project.

We use commercially acceptable security measures (such as HTTPS encryption during transmission) to protect your data. Since the app does not require a login, no passwords or financial data are stored.
