Can I join if I am new to running?
Yes! We plan for both shorter and longer route options for every practice we hold to ensure everyone is accomodated for. Feel free to shorten the route as you please by turning back early. We typically have runners of all paces at our practices so don't hesitate to befriend others who are at your pace level so you can have a running buddy!
What if I want to train competitively for races like 5Ks, half marathons, marathons, etc?
We highly recommend joining the club if you are training for these races! Currently we have many runners who are preparing for races, so you will definitely find someone who is at the same speed that you are at.
What races do you compete in?
We compete in the National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA) races. You can find out more on their website: https://clubrunning.org/. We also do local races (5Ks, 10Ks, half and full marathons, etc.) and All Comers Track Meets!
Do I have to race or can I just run for fun with you guys?
All races are optional! We have plenty of members who like to run just to stay in shape and for the social aspect.
Do I have to run the whole time?
No! Just do your best. It's ok to walk if you need to!
Where do you run?
We have a variety of different trails and roads that we run on around the UCI campus. Join our Strava group found on the "contact us" page above to see the routes that we take for our daily runs.Â
Do I have to commit to a certain number of practices per week?
No. There is no time commitment involved, come out to join us when you can! Just make sure to pay your dues and sign up officially through Club Sports so that we know you are a member.
