If you want a specialized open-ear solution built specifically for swimming and long outdoor sessions, choose Rumatas Swimming Bone Conduction; if you need deep bass, noise isolation, and all-day battery life for running or gym work, choose Keenso Neckband Headset. This decision isn't about which brand is more popular or what the current price tag looks like on a screen; it is entirely about matching your specific ear shape and activity level to the right technology. For those with small ears who often struggle with bulky over-ear designs or heavy in-ear buds that slip out, finding a device that stays secure without causing pressure points is critical. The Rumatas model offers a unique open-channel approach that might be the answer for swimmers, while the Keenso provides a traditional neckband form factor that many find more stable for high-intensity cardio.
• Rumatas Swimming Bone Conduction: Its biggest strength is the dedicated bone conduction driver designed for underwater use and open-ear awareness, but its trade-off is the lack of deep bass and active noise cancellation compared to sealed drivers.
• Keenso Neckband Headset: It excels with a 13-hour battery life and IPX7 waterproofing for intense sweat exposure, yet it relies on in-ear tips that may not suit everyone's ear canal geometry as well as open designs.
• Who each pick is for: Rumatas is ideal for aquatic athletes and runners who need to hear their surroundings; Keenso fits commuters, runners, and gym-goers who prioritize audio immersion and long battery endurance.
The Rumatas Swimming Bone Conduction headphones are engineered for a very specific set of users who prioritize safety and water resistance over traditional audio fidelity. At the core of this design is the bone conduction driver, a technology that bypasses the eardrum entirely by vibrating the cheekbones to transmit sound. This makes it an excellent choice for anyone with small ears who finds standard in-ear buds uncomfortable or prone to falling out during movement. Because the ear canal remains completely open, there is no risk of pressure buildup or ear fatigue, even after hours of wear. The open-ear placement means you can swim in a pool or run near traffic while still hearing ambient sounds, a feature that sealed headphones simply cannot offer.

The durability and connectivity specs point directly to an active lifestyle. With Bluetooth 5.3 technology, the device maintains a stable connection up to 33 feet away from your source, ensuring your music doesn't cut out when you step away from your phone. The battery life is rated for 7 hours of continuous play, which is sufficient for most training sessions, though it requires a 2-hour charge time to refill. While the product information notes a "cushioned" package type and a carrying case, the focus here is clearly on the hardware's ability to handle water and movement. The Raven color option and sporty style suggest a rugged build intended for outdoor conditions, and the sound isolation mentioned in the controls refers to the physical design rather than electronic noise cancellation, allowing you to stay aware of your environment.
However, this device is not for everyone. If you are looking for rich, thumping bass or complete silence in a noisy gym, this open-ear design will likely disappoint. The bone conduction method naturally produces less low-frequency response than dynamic drivers found in other headsets. Furthermore, the 7-hour battery life, while decent, falls short of competitors offering longer endurance. You should skip this product if you plan on using it for long-haul flights where passive isolation is required, or if you have sensitive skin that reacts to the vibration against the skull. It is a niche tool for swimmers and safety-conscious runners, not a general-purpose replacement for every pair of headphones you own.
The Keenso Neckband Headset takes a more conventional approach, prioritizing immersive sound quality and extended usage time through a classic neck-worn design. This device is built for individuals who need a reliable audio companion that won't die halfway through a workout. The standout feature here is the 13-hour average battery life powered by a 150mAh lithium polymer battery. This is a significant advantage for marathon runners, long-distance cyclists, or anyone who wants to listen to podcasts or music across multiple days without reaching for a charger. The charging port is Micro USB, and the battery supports both talk and music time for the full duration, making it a practical choice for daily commuters and travelers alike.
Audio performance is another key area where this headset shines. It features a noise-reducing microphone and an acoustic design aimed at delivering deep bass and crystal-clear voice calls. Unlike the open-ear design of the Rumatas, these in-ear buds create a seal that helps block out external noise, enhancing the listening experience for music enthusiasts who value rhythm and detail. The IPX7 rating confirms that the unit can withstand heavy rain and intense sweat, making it robust enough for the most grueling gym sessions or hot yoga classes. The flexible neckband construction ensures a comfortable fit that distributes weight evenly, reducing strain on the neck during long periods of wear.
For people with small ears, the in-ear tip design might require careful selection of the included ear tips to ensure a snug fit, though the ergonomic flexibility helps mitigate slippage. The Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity provides a stable link up to 32.8 feet, which is slightly shorter than the Rumatas range but generally sufficient for personal use around the house or office. The push-button controls allow for easy volume adjustment and track skipping without needing to touch your phone, a convenience that is vital when your hands are busy lifting weights or holding onto a bike handle. This headset is best suited for those who want a balance of comfort, durability, and solid audio quality without the specialized constraints of underwater swimming gear.
• Best for aquatic activities → Rumatas Swimming Bone Conduction (specifically designed for underwater use).
• Best for battery endurance → Keenso Neckband Headset (13 hours vs. 7 hours of playtime).

• Best for low latency gaming → Keenso Neckband Headset (Bluetooth 5.1 is optimized for lag-free connection with devices).
• Best for small ears seeking comfort → Rumatas Swimming Bone Conduction (no pressure inside the ear canal).
• Best for intense sweating → Both are waterproof, but Keenso has a higher IPX7 rating explicitly noted for sweatproofing.
• Best for call clarity → Keenso Neckband Headset (dedicated noise-reduction microphone for voice calls).
While the Rumatas is a fascinating piece of engineering for swimmers, the 13-hour battery life and superior bass response of the Keenso make it a much more versatile companion for general fitness and commuting. For someone with small ears, the Keenso's flexible neckband offers a secure, non-intrusive fit that works well for long durations, whereas the Rumatas is too specialized for everyday audio consumption. In my opinion, unless you are specifically training for open-water swimming, the extra battery life and immersive sound of the Keenso provide better value for the average user.
The Keenso Neckband Headset uses Bluetooth 5.1, which offers stable, lag-free connections suitable for gaming and video watching, and its in-ear design can be tailored for small ears. The Rumatas uses Bluetooth 5.3, which is newer but focuses on open-ear transmission rather than low-latency in-ear sealing.
The Keenso Neckband Headset offers significantly longer endurance with up to 13 hours of playtime, whereas the Rumatas Swimming Bone Conduction provides 7 hours of continuous use before requiring a recharge.
Both devices are built for sports, but the Keenso explicitly lists an IPX7 rating for protection against sweat and rain, while the Rumatas is marketed specifically for swimming capabilities.
Yes, both support wireless connectivity for calls. The Keenso features a dedicated noise-reducing microphone for clearer voice transmission, while the Rumatas relies on its open-ear design which may let in more background noise during calls.
