I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University. I earned my Ph.D. in Operations Research from Columbia University, and I was very fortunate to be advised by Prof. Agostino Capponi. I received both my B.S. and M.A. in Mathematics in 2018 from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) under the Departmental Scholars Program.
My research lies at the intersection of financial technology, market microstructure, and mechanism design. In the broad field of financial technology, my work has focused on decentralized finance (DeFi), tackling issues ranging from the design of new marketplaces to improving the efficiency of existing protocols, as well as examining the interactions between traditional centralized exchanges and decentralized financial platforms. I have conducted pioneering research in DeFi and digital assets, playing a key role in advancing our understanding of risk management and mechanism design in DeFi systems. My analysis of decentralized exchanges and automated market makers identifies inefficiencies and proposes solutions to enhance both efficiency and adoption.
My work has been recognized with the INFORMS Finance Best Student Paper Award and with the Best Paper Award at the 2nd Annual CBER Conference. My work has received attention from major governmental agencies tasked with the regulation of financial markets, including the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the Security Exchange Commission, and the Bank for International Settlement. My studies on allocative inefficiencies and fairness in public blockchains and price discovery on decentralized exchanges have received press coverage from Cointelegraph and Bloomberg.
I am a strong supporter of engagement with the private sector to broaden our understanding of decentralized platforms such as DeFi, and of collaborations with government agencies to inform the design of regulatory frameworks for digital assets and technologies.
