DCG

The ETTC is designed to introduce and explore evidence-based, new and innovative technologies and techniques related to dentistry. We strive to give all years of dental students at the DCG an idea of what they may encounter once in practice with its primary focus on topics in general dentistry. Exposing students to novel items and ideas should help them become more prepared, knowledgeable, and up-to-date practitioners. 

Past presentation topics include: 3D printed prosthesis, AI in dentistry, robotics-assisted implant placement, intraoral scanning, water-based fluoride varnish. 

Scanapalooza is a scanner fair at the DCG where we have dental intraoral scanner companies showcase their products. This event is open to DCG students, professors, alumni, and dentists near the Augusta, GA region. This past year we had 6 scanner companies present including Planmeca, Dentsply Sirona, 3Shape, Media, Dexis, and iTero. Students, faculty, and clinicians have an opportunity to compare the a variety of intraoral scanners side-by-side and are involved in discussions regarding future directions of the digital work flow. 

The Scanapalooza received much popularity that we collaborated with the Federal University of Uberlandia in Brazil to host Scanapalooza Brazil in November, 2025.
