“Hippodrome” was taken during a bicycle ride in the countryside around Malmö, in Sweden, were the artist lived and studied in 2007 / 2008.
At some point, he came upon a empty hippodrome. In the middle stood a huge ironwork structure built for floodlighting the vast space devoted to public sporting entertainment.
Looking at the picture, the title informs about that public venue, but it is not shown in the image, it is off camera. It can only be visualized in the mind of the viewer and the result will be different for everyone. The individual glance will lead to a private mental and visual construction of a public and community space, that is suggested but not given.
