In my teaching, I focus on developing students’ historical thinking by working from present-day political, social, and security challenges and translating them into historically grounded research questions. I combine source-based teaching, guided discussion, and case studies, drawing on experience from more than 70 courses and advanced training in higher-education pedagogy at universities in Germany and the United States.
Currently, I am responsible for the modules Intelligence Accountability and History of Defence Intelligence in the Master of Intelligence and Security Studies (MISS), jointly offered by the Hochschule des Bundes and the University of the Bundeswehr Munich, and I annually teach English-language seminars on the history of intelligence since the nineteenth century at the Universities of Potsdam and Bonn.
