"The Norwegian Rueda Standard (NRS) - renamed in 2017 to "RuedaStandard.com" - contains standard Rueda de Casino commands used by salsa/rueda schools in Norway, UK, Spain and other european countries. The standard was created in 2002, and updated in 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2017 and 2019." .. as mentioned on their website. in 2017 the name "Norwegian" has been removed to focus more on the "standard"...

The Norwegian Rueda Standard / Rueda Standard.com recognizes :
a number of "core figures", separated in a "beginners" and "improver" level
a number of extra figures, separated in a "intermediate" and "advanced" level
a number of "Casino Figures", separated in "beginners", "improvers", intermediate" and "advanced" level
command combinations, separated in the "beginners", "improvers", intermediate", "advanced" and "mixed" levels
a number of "rueda structures" such as
Rueda por fuera
Rueda cruzada
Rueda espejo
Rueda contratiempo
Rueda con dos mujeres ...
The "Rueda Café"-group (RC) uses the "Norwegian Rueda Standard" (NRS) / RuedaStandard.com (RS) as a kind of mirror against their own exercise-scheme. But in some cases different names are used to conform to general practice in the past in the Antwerpen regio. As such this RC exercise-scheme includes (TBI : =to be included by Rueda Café)
most of the "core figures" - beginner level, however with the following remarks
"abajo tiempo España"*; RC uses the name "abajo"
"cubanito/cubanita"; RC uses in addition the names "uno" & "dos" (and "doce") for almost similar moves
"sacala" ; RC uses also the name "exhibela"
"adentro y afuera" (or "paseala") ; RC has started to use this name in january 2016 (previously called "abajo"), but today prefers the name "aguajea"
most of the "core figures" - improver level, however with the following remarks
"a lo cortico"; RC calls it "tres daiquiri"
"cadena - complicaté"; RC calls it "cable - con mujeres" and "y con hombres" ("cadena" is not used to avoid confusion with "cadeneta", a figure commonly danced in the Antwerp Regio and close to the NRS "tumba francesa complicado")
"con vuelta" ,a "modifier" : sometimes the name "con giro" is used
most of the "Casino figures", however, some figures have not yet been included
TBI "la preciosa" : the move is known as the end of the "setenta por abajo"
"la prima cruzada" : not used ; this "prima" move is not conform to all other "prima"'s !! so personally I am not in favour of including it .
puente doble" : not used and can give confusion with another "puente" move :-(
"parte el brazo" : will not be included for historical reaons, as this name is already used for another command.
most of the "extra figures";
but for some figures the video is not available and therefore not included (yet) in our scheme
"flor roja": (no video from NRS/RS available) : ?
"envuelve la": (no video from NRS/RS available) : ?
"vamos": (no video from NRS/RS available) : but could be "this" :-)
some figures could be included in the near future
TBI "Pelota hasta cinco" : not used yet
TBI ?? "mujeres al centro" : not used yet
TBI "consorte" : not used yet
TBI "Pedro Navajo" : not used yet
TBI "caja de bolas" : not used yet; close to 33 but with returning one lady at the end
TBI : "setenta por los manos" : we use this version (Montreal Standard)
TBI : "salsita"
TBI : "tienda de sombreros"
some are used but deserve a comment
"saborea" : RC uses the name "coca-cola" (mostly used as add-ons to another figure)
some add-ons are used (con una, dos, ... con mambo, con coca-cola, con vuelta, con alarde, con bamboleo,..) videos are sometimes difficult to find
We will aim to follow the Rueda.Standard as close as possible and will try to integrate the moves, for which a video is available and marked with TBI. The variations on rueda-structures (por cruzada, espejo,...) - until otherwise decided - will not be followed at RC; the "por fuera" variation is used in a special workshop.
