ABOUT
ABOUT
Ruby is a writer and comedian working on Gadigal land in Sydney. A graduate of the Master of Fine Arts at NIDA (2025), her writing tells stories that navigate life's bitterest moments with tender optimism, moving audiences between side-splitting laughter and tears. Using comedy as a Trojan horse for hard-to-talk-about subjects, she produces poignant social commentary about the messiness of grief, loss, and human connection. Her voice is sharp, witty, and empathetic, once described by the Umbilical Brothers as “really fucking funny”.
Ruby’s MFA major work, Cadaver Synod, a sexed-up Vatican tragedy, was recently selected to be read at the Old Fitz in their 2025 New Works Season. Her short play, Milk Bottle Challenge, developed at ATYP’s National Studio and published by Currency Press, was featured in the 2025 ATYP Intersection Festival. She is currently a Fresh Ink Writer with ATYP and Artist in Residence at Barrett House. Her work has been recognised by the Inner West Council EDGE Residency, with select credits including Divided: A Contemporary Australian Theatre Parody (PACT), My Wisdom Teeth are Broken, I’m Stupider Than Ever (Enmore Theatre), and Doggy Bone Soup (Factory Theatre).
