About Department
Rubber Technology department is a unique branch creating eminent engineers and developing futuristic professionals for global world of Rubber through continuous efforts and involvement. Bachelor of Engineering in Rubber Technology is started in the year 1983 by L. D. College of Engineering, as one of the first Bachelor Engineering course in Rubber Technology at western India. Rubber Technology branch is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad and administrated by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Gujarat. This course is only one of its kinds in Western India and is vibrating symbol of Institute - Industry Co-operation promoting purposeful technical education in the field of Rubber. The course is good blend of theory and practical including semester VIII as actual training in the Industry.
The department offers a four-year post HSC (with PCM subjects) under graduate program. Also Diploma pass-outs are eligible to apply. The duration of degree course (B.E.) is 4 years and 3 years for D2D students from any Diploma branch, including B.E. semester VIII as industrial training. The Department also offers a two-year P.G. Master program. During the tenure students are exposed to industrial environment in the area of Rubber product Manufacturing and services.
These highly specialized and job oriented programs provide wide scope of placement opportunities within India and abroad for the graduates. All the successful B.E. and M.E. graduates find placements in major organizations including Tire and Non-Tire Industries. These programs also offers good entrepreneurial opportunities to the graduates. Admission for the B.E., program is done through the Admission Committee for Professional Courses, Gujarat (ACPC).
It also focuses on the processing of natural rubber or synthetic rubber, processing of latex and so on. It provides Rubber Engineering Technology students with a diversified background that includes advanced coursework in the mixing and testing of rubber compounds for industry standards, the processing of rubber compounds into finished products that meet customer requirements, product and mold design and materials selection and properties.
The tremendously mounting use of automobiles enhanced the use of rubber in industries and has made rubber technology a lucrative career option. The rubber industry in India has much scope and growth is still being made in its paraphernalia. Not only in India but countries abroad as well are in dire need of experts in this field.
