Part of the qualification program of the RTG consists of the following regular activities:
Biweekly seminars on selected topics.
The RTG-Colloquiums, once each semester.
An advanced lecture of the Master and PhD programs of the LUH or HU, on a topic relevant to the RTG.
A yearly summer school.
There will also be some occasional lecture series given by our Mercator-Fellows and some selected guests.
The seminar on the Summer Term 2025 was a reading seminar around the book by Kollár, Lieblich, Olsson and Sawin "What determines an algebraic variety?". We will focus on its main result in characteristic 0, namely that the Zariski topology of a normal projective geometrically irreducible algebraic variety already determines its algebraic structure.
The second scientific colloquium of the RTG took place in Hannover on March 20th and 21st. It focused on Hyperplane Arrangements, with talks by Gavril Farkas, Eva Feichtner, Lukas Kühne, Leonie Mühlherr, Piotr Pokora, Gerhard Röhrle, Xavier Roulleau and Raman Sanyal. More invormation can be found here.
The first scientific colloquium of the RTG took place in Berlin in November 22nd, with invited lectures by J. Alper, T. Browning, S, Feyzbaksh abd R. Pandharipande. More information can be found here.
In the Winter Term 2025 the RTG-Lecture will be on Hyperplane Arrangements, given by Prof. Cuntz in Hannover.
In the Summer Term 2025 the RTG-Lecture was on Variations of Hodge Structure, given in the HU-Berlin by our associated member Joshua Lam.
The first summer school of the RTG took place in Padova (Italy) from September 15 to 19. It consisted of three mini-courses (by Daniel Litt, Isabel Vogt and Olivier Wittenberg), some short talks by our PhD students and an open discussion on practical questions from PhD students. The complete program and more information can be found here.
Our Mercator-Fellow Shigeru Mukai visited Hannover from June 1st to June 15th, and then Berlin from June 20th to July 4th.
In Hannover he gave a talk in the Mathematical-Physical Colloquium of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, as well as in the research seminar of the Institute of Algebraic Geometry.
In Berlin he gave two talks in the research seminar on algebraic geometry, as well as a talk at the Berlin Mathematical School.
In May 2025 there was a series of lectures on "Real algebraic geometry and Hodge theory", held by our Mercator-Fellow Olivier Benoist.
Here is a list of other conferences and workshops organized in Berlin or Hannover by some of the principal investigators of the RTG:
Aspects of Algebraic Geometry, on occasion of Fabrizio Catanese's 75th birthday. Hannover, March 21st 2025. Organized by Raymond Cheng and Matthias Schütt.
Algebraic Geometry in Hannover. Hannover, March 18th and 19th 2025. Organized by Raymond Cheng and Matthias Schütt.
