Benefit Access Program

Customers applying for the Ride Free Program must be enrolled in the Illinois Department on Aging's Benefit Access Program. Under new legislation, customers are only required to be approved for BAP at the time of their first application for an RTA Ride Free permit. You can access the application here.

NITA Fare Programs Online Portal

The NITA Fare Programs Online Portal allows customers to apply, replace, or renew their NITA Ride Free, Reduced Fare, and/or Access permits. Customers have the ability to change NITA Programs (e.g., Reduced Fare to Ride Free)​, customer demographic information​, update customer's photo​, check the status of application​, and update information for rejected customer’s applications without completing a new one. It allows customers the ability to opt-in to electronic communications.​ This includes receiving updated status of current applications and renewal notifications.

This portal allows registration sites to reduce paper applications and upload the documents required directly. By using the portal instead of a paper application, it reduces the turnaround time from 3 to 4 weeks to 10 to 14 business days for customers to receive their permit.

NITA's Mobility Management Video Series is available on NITA's Chicago YouTube Channel. There are six short videos available. These videos focus on riding accessible public transportation, community safety, trip planning, travel independence, and deciding which transit option is right for you. Videos are available in English and Spanish.
